MA Project: The ScrapBook of Passion Souvenirs

Digital Media
Boys, bruises, bad words, biblical truth and all the distorted realities that most people try to conceal. And this is all about love.
Graphic designer Leonardo Costa gathered a collection of present day issues surrounding male sexuality and promoted a 'cut and paste' discussion on social labels and queer representation.
The ScrapBook of Passion Souvenirs is not about sex per se, but a poetic statement on love and its possibilities and on how people react to these possibilities. Most of all, the work does not follow a particular theme but questions how people respond to these subjects. Among the social debates on gender, acceptancy and humans as sexual beings, this collection of thoughts is presented as celebration of lust and passion among men.
The video is linked by a narrative of diverse words and expressions that overlap intimacy and protest following a 'my dear diary' way. The intimancy relies on episodes of personal childhood memories and rough responses of violence and desire. At the same time it protests against hetero-centred culture and emphasizes the similarities between what is accepted and not accepted on social steryotypes.
Sex as we understand it, or as we pretend not to understand. Sexuality and its boundaries in a ever growing web of possibilities and unattached meanings. The ScrapBook of Passion Souvenirs is queer but far from being underground, because it is time to realise overgroundiness.
