Objects (2002)

The 'Objects' has an organic character, which has been produced by black and white patterns and silhouettes; it imitates an ancient underground world.

On the one hand, this biomorphic 'civilisation' remains an archaeological story full of archaic or Egyptian myths: where a system of caves, hollows, and underground connected passageways form the remains, the plan or map of old constructions. And where the jugs are taking the role of the citizens and becoming the storyteller. On the other hand, simple forms, colours and random variations of composition provoke one to think that the 'Objects' is a children's drawings or computer game. Here underground become the play of the reach of young fantasy. I used to make these kinds of images when I was a child and for me it was such an attractive process of searching for new spaces where the fairy-tale's heroes were living, travelling and having many adventures. So the idea of the 'Objects' could stem from my childhood drawing experience.

Oddly, the work imitates a cell and at the same time vivid organism. The shapes of it are crawling on the walls and its growth and developing are slowly gaining speed. For some this kind of chaotic movement could be a cause of a sensation of claustrophobia. The viewer is lost in these underground tunnels.

In association with white and black, vividness and underground life & birth and death could be shown, however the idea of the work is a presentation of the human being and his/her searching for its way of life. That is why the jugs each have their own character, specific place and destinations, as if they were individuals. But people as jugs are only objects in this world.
